About the Role: Chestnut Grove Association Inc. is looking for a talented and passionate Part time cook to join our culinary team in 
New Milford, CT! This is a fantastic opportunity to bring your creativity and culinary expertise to a welcoming environment where great food and great people come together. Our senior living community serves up to 45 meals, 7 days a week, 362 days a year. Dinner is served promptly at 5:30 pm during the week day and promptly at 12:30 pm on the weekends.

We are looking for a dependable candidate who will be the sole chef in the kitchen twice a week (MONDAY & TUESDAY) when the head chef is off. As well as working with our chef (One to two days a week). Weekends may be included in your shift.
Responsibilities:

  • Assist in food preparation and cooking for various dining and catering events, ensuring high standards of quality and presentation
  • Support the supervision of kitchen staff and service teams during shifts, maintaining smooth operations and excellent customer service
  • Manage inventory control by monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies, and ensuring proper storage and food safety sanitizing procedures
  • Participate in menu planning alongside chefs and management to create appealing offerings that meet dietary requirements and customer preferences
  • Uphold food safety standards by following sanitizing procedures, handling food responsibly, and maintaining a clean kitchen environment
  • Contribute to catering events by setting up food stations, serving guests, and ensuring timely delivery of meals
  • Assist with kitchen management tasks such as shift management, cost control, and ensuring compliance with health regulations
Skills

  • Strong background in dietary department practices and food production techniques
  • Extensive culinary experience with expertise in food handling, cooking, and food safety sanitizing procedures
  • Leadership skills with experience managing teams as a chef or kitchen supervisor
  • Knowledge of inventory management, cost control, and kitchen management best practices
  • Excellent communication skills for serving guests effectively and coordinating with team members
  • Familiarity with fine dining standards, menu planning, shift management, and restaurant experience
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality food service standards
  • Passion for hospitality, team management, and delivering memorable dining experiences

Work Location: In person
